Welsh International and Bristol Bears Rugby Player, Elinor Snowsill becomes a WSA Official Ambassador.
I’m El Snowsill (also known as Snowy, or more reluctantly.. Princess) and I’m a fly half for Bristol and Wales. I’m super excited to be a WSA Ambassador because it basically encompasses everything I believe in (and preach about to anyone who’ll listen!). It’s so important that female athletes are properly supported at a time when interest in women’s sport is sky-rocketing and I’m honoured to be involved in an agency that is striving to put women first. My only complaint is that it wasn’t around earlier in my career!
I’ve been around for a while now (as the youngsters in the squad like to keep reminding me), and have been involved in some amazing teams with some incredible teammates. One of the highlights of my career was being involved in the first ever international Barbarians fixture, beating the USA alongside some legends of the game.
I love rugby so much that it’s also my day job! I work full time for the charity School of Hard Knocks, combining rugby coaching and mentoring to support young people with challenging behaviour or difficult home lives. Watching girls discover how amazing rugby is and the values it can instil, reminds me of why I fell in love with the sport in the first place. I’m just glad there is now a support system in place like the WSA to ensure the stars of the future get everything they need.
